Sergio Ramos García, born on March 30, 1986, is a Spanish footballer who plays as a centre-back and is currently a free agent. Many people regard him as one of the greatest centre-backs in football history.

Hailing from Camas, Seville, Ramos kicked off his career in Sevilla’s youth academy and spent two seasons with their senior team before making the leap to Real Madrid in 2005. During his time at Madrid, he racked up an impressive 22 major trophies, including five La Liga titles and four Champions League victories, earning a spot on the Champions League Team of the Season every time Madrid triumphed. After his contract wrapped up, he signed with Paris Saint-Germain in July 2021, where he celebrated two Ligue 1 titles in just two seasons. In 2012, Ramos started dating journalist and television presenter Pilar Rubio. The couple got engaged in the summer of 2018 and tied the knot in mid-2019. Together, they have four sons: Sergio Jr., Marco, Alejandro, and Máximo.

Outside of football, Ramos has a passion for horses and owns a stud farm in his beloved Andalusia. His horse, Yucatán SR4, even became a world champion in 2018. Additionally, Ramos has been featured in two documentary series on Amazon Prime Video that delve into his life and career.

In January 2019, Amazon Prime teamed up with Sergio Ramos to unveil an eight-episode documentary series that dives into his life both on and off the pitch, called El Corazón de Sergio Ramos (The Heart of Sergio Ramos). On March 5, while he was suspended for a Champions League match, Ramos was spotted in his VIP area, being filmed by the Amazon Prime crew. This sparked some controversy after Real Madrid faced a loss and got knocked out, but Ramos took to social media to clarify that there were “certain commitments made” and that it never crossed his mind that the game could end up that way.

Following the success of his first documentary, Ramos announced in June 2020 that Amazon would be releasing another series titled La Leyenda Sergio Ramos (The Legend of Sergio Ramos). This six-episode series showcases his remarkable career and premiered in Spain in April 2021, with a worldwide release following in June 2021.

International Career

Beyond his club achievements, Ramos has also had a stellar international career representing Spain. He kicked off his journey in 2002 with Spain’s under-16 team, and the following year, he played for the under-17 squad. In 2004, he celebrated victory at the UEFA European Under-19 Championship with the under-19 team. He continued to shine with the under-21 team before making his senior national team debut in 2005. His first major title with the senior squad came at Euro 2008, and he went on to help Spain clinch the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Two years later, he played a crucial role in Spain’s triumph at Euro 2012. Ramos also represented Spain in the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Euro 2016, and the 2018 FIFA World Cup, along with appearances in the 2018-19 and 2020-21 UEFA Nations Leagues. Unfortunately, due to a season plagued by injuries, he was left out of the squad for Euro 2020 and later missed the 2022 FIFA World Cup. In early 2023, he announced his retirement from international football.

Club Career

Sergio Ramos kicked off his professional journey with Sevilla FC back in 2004. He spent just one season there, making 41 appearances and netting two goals. His standout performances soon caught the eye of Real Madrid, who brought him on board in the summer of 2005.

Ramos joined the club for a then-staggering fee of €27 million. He quickly became a vital part of the team, primarily playing as a center-back but also stepping in as a right-back when needed.
