Net Worth and Salary
Selena Gomez is an American singer, actress, producer, songwriter, and social media mega-star with a net worth of $1 billion dollars. As we will describe below, the lion’s share of Selena Gomez’ net worth can be attributed to the success of her makeup company called Rare Beauty.
While she started out as a young girl on television shows such as “Barney & Friends,” Selena Gomez has gone on to become one of the biggest stars in the world today.
For many people who follow celebrities, life on tour, on set, or at a concert tends to have its fair share of ups and downs—what fans don’t see are all of the little dramas that happen behind-the-scenes. Selena Gomez, however, seems to have been able to maintain a fairly drama-free existence compared to her fellow Disney starlets—Lindsay Lohan, for example, was recently arrested after being pulled over for running a stop sign.
Other former Disney kids such as Amanda Bynes, Britney Spears, and Demi Lovato also had their own run-ins with law enforcement, drug use, etc., while Selena Gomez handled fame, a full schedule, and her high profile romance with Justin Bieber remarkably well.
Gomez started her acting journey at just seven years old when she began acting professionally on “Barney & Friends.” Then, she caught the attention of the Disney Channel where she worked on a recurring basis for seasons two and three of the show “Hannah Montana” until 2007 when she was offered one of the lead roles on another popular series called “Wizards of Waverly Place”.
Since then, Gomez appeared in several movies including “Another Cinderella Story”, “Princess Protection Program,” and “Ramona and Beezus”. She has since established herself as a highly sought-after actress and an endorser. In 2021, Selena started starring in the Hulu series Only Murders in the Building with fellow actors Steve Martin and Martin Short.
In addition to her success in entertainment, Selena also had tremendous success in the music industry too. With three studio albums that she recorded under the name “Selena Gomez & The Scene“, all three albums have sold over 1 million copies thus making them Gold status albums.
With almost 58 million followers on TikTok alone as well as over 420 million followers on Instagram, Selena Gomez can arguably claim to be among those who are considered some of the highest-paid endorsers across the globe due to being one of today’s biggest stars on social media platforms right now.
As of now she boasts over 33million subscribers on YouTubegenerating nearly 13billion views through content posted on its site!
When she’s not recording, performing, shooting a project or rehearsing, she’s a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. Gomez has become an owner and investor of the ice cream brand Serendipity, launching her own makeup line called Rare Beauty this past September. She also co-founded a mental health platform called “Wondermind” and has invested in the food delivery company Gopuff.
Rare Beauty & Other Investments
She has also been very successful when it comes to investing outside of acting/singing. For example, she became an investor and co-owner of the ice cream brand Serendipity in 2020.
In addition, Selena is the co-founder of a mental health startup named Wondermind, which recently raised $5M with a $100M valuation in August 2022. Serena Williams’ venture fund, Serena Ventures, led this round together with other big VCs including Lightspeed Venture Partners and Sequoia Capital.
Wonderkind positions themselves as a “mental fitness” company offering social media channels, web content, newsletter, podcast, etc.
Selena’s most important source of wealth is her status as founder of makeup company Rare Beauty. She launched Rare Beauty in September 2020 with an exclusive drop at Sephora. Rare Beauty has since seen massive success — generating at least $100 million in revenue in 2022, according to Forbes.
The company generated an unconfirmed amount of $350 million in 2023, which means that if we assume a conservative 4x revenue multiple (common when evaluating companies) and the figure of $350 million is correct then the business is valued at at least $1.4 billion. Selena, who also happens to own 51% of the brand, was reportedly weighing a $2 billion acquisition offer back in early 2024.
How did Rare Beauty do this? By focusing on moderately priced and easy-to-use items, such as lip liner, liquid blush, and liquid foundation. Most items range between $5 and $30. Also, Rare Beauty donates 1% of all sales toward its own “philanthropic fund,” which has already raised over $5 million (including from donor events).
Acting Career
Selena’s breakout came with her role in the show Wizards of Waverly Place that ran for 106 episodes between 2007-2012. Two of these shows were then made into movies. For each episode on the show, Selena was paid $30,000.
She’s since worked on other projects as well, having acted in several films, and she just recently started a production company called July Moon Productions.
Music and Other Ventures
She was signed to Hollywood Records when she turned 16, joining other stars such as Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato on the label. She’s released three studio albums, two EPs and one compilation album thus far.
Gomez was also the lead singer of the band Selena Gomez and the Scene, whose discography includes three studio albums and one remix album. She has performed solo twice and has toured with her former band three times.
In September 2017, it came out that Selena had just struck a two-year, $30 million deal with shoe company Puma to serve as its new face — alongside pop star Rihanna. She’s also an executive producer of Netflix shows “13 Reasons Why” and “Living Undocumented.”
$30 Million Puma Deal
Previously this year, we’ve reported that as of September 2017, Selena was the face of activewear company Puma — a deal that paid her $30 million over two years.
Selena also made an official announcement about becoming an ambassador for Puma on Instagram earlier today, sharing a picture of herself sporting some of their gear with the caption “Officially a part of the fam @puma #pumapartner.”
“Puma has changed the game when it comes to the mash-up of athletic wear and fashion,” she continued in a statement. “It’s amazing to witness their influence on style and culture… and I’m excited to be part of it. I’m hoping we’ll be able to come out with something special. We’ve got some really cool stuff in the works.”
For its part, Puma Global Director for Brand & Marketing Adam Petrick called Gomez “authentic” and “creative,” and added, “She’s everything today’s female consumer looks for as a role model – authentically unique! Selena has been showing everyone around the world how incredibly strong she truly is. Her willingness to talk about and share experiences around living with Lupus serves as such a beautiful example of confidence and determination. That kind of honest openness helps define who she is at her core, and why Selena is a perfect partner for us at PUMA.
“She is not afraid of the challenges our world offers. She fights, she perseveres. This is exactly what PUMA is about. She won’t just represent our brand – she will help define and enhance our women’s business.” Gomez’s initial debut for Puma will include work for the brand’s latest campaign featuring the Phenom, one of the most recent launches from Puma’s women’s footwear line.
$10 Million Coach Deal
Gomez inked the agreement back in December 2016 — when Selena was just 24 years old. This meant the singer didn’t just become the new face of the company, but could also launch her own line for Coach — which at the time wanted to expand its customer demographic. “Selena’s appeal to the youth will allow Coach to remain true to its mature customer base,” read one portion of the contract, according to Variety.
That’s no small thing — the brand saw that Selena was then the most followed user on Instagram — and thus hoped to draw those younger followers into buying products too.
“For us, we’re thinking about this ‘new day at Coach,’” Stuart Vevers, the creative director for Coach told British Vogue earlier this year. When he first took the position, he explained, “I was looking at using our history as a touch stone… So I started discovering what would be believable at Coach… I think it was really important that we were bold and looked ahead… And see what the next generation wants from luxury and fashion.”
Now the 75-year-old brand — long perceived as a “heritage” brand for older folks, though its product designs are actually quite modern — has taken great pains to attract more youthful attention. Younger faces have peppered its events of late, including Coach’s recent 75th-anniversary party where A-listers Michael B. Jordan, Diplo, and Zoë Kravitz showed up. Now it hopes to convert that youthful energy into sales.
Earnings from Instagram
She’s the most followed person on Instagram (for now). With more than 420 million followers today. Estimates have found the value of every Instagram post by Selena at a staggering sum of $3.5 million to the brand that pays her to put their stuff up there. That means Selena earns between $500k to $800K per single post.
With all things considered — primarily her ventures into Coach, Puma and Instagram — Selena pulls down a cool $10 – $15 million/year. It’s an incredibly impressive figure, yet still short of making her one of the top 100 paid celebrities in the world. Maybe Ms. Gomez just likes being low key?
Philanthropy
Volunteering For A Wide Variety Of Causes. Selena works very closely with UNICEF and is currently its ambassador for their Trick-or-Treat fundraising program. In 2009, she flew over for a week to see first hand what kind of conditions impoverished children were living under — without basic things such as clean water and nourishment — and how she could use her star-power via UNICEF to spread awareness about those in need in Ghana. Gomez even visited Chile to visit the families helped by UNICEF’s Programa Puente program where families are taught the skills they need to raise kids.
In addition to working with UNICEF, Selena is an ambassador for Do.Something.org, a non-profit that focuses on youth activism. She’s also involved with the charity RAISE Hope for Congo. She was even named ambassador of the Ryan Seacrest Foundation in 2012. Selena makes frequent trips to children’s hospitals to show them support and cheer up their spirits. She also was once a spokesperson for insurance giant State Farm and made several commercials that aired on Disney in order to spread awareness about safe driving.
Health Issues
Selena was diagnosed with Lupus in 2014. She received a kidney transplant from friend and fellow actress Francia Raisa (of “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” fame) in September 2017. In April 2020, it was revealed that Selena was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. In November 2022, she announced she had an episode of psychosis back in 2018.

Selena Gomez Milestones
Selena was initially listed on our site in December 2009 with a net worth of $1 million. She was 17 at the time and earning $30,000 per episode of “Wizards of Waverly Place.” Her earnings from that role totaled just over $3 million.
Selena’s net worth went up significantly in 2011 when it topped $5 million. But then she really started taking off—she broke $10 million in net worth in April 2013 after the release of her debut solo album.
She continued to earn millions as an actress but also began making money off of Instagram. By 2015, her net worth hit $18 million, mostly due to Instagram. Then came the Puma deal, Coach deal, album sales, countless singles, her acting career—and now her net worth tops $60 million in mid-2018, according to CelebrityNetWorth.
By 2019, Selena Gomez’s net worth had reached $75 million. In July 2023, thanks to Rare Beauty, we estimate her net worth at $800 million. Finally, in September 2024, Selena officially became a billionaire!
Real Estate
She bought the four-bedroom, three-bathroom home in July 2011 for $2.175 million. The property – which sits on an acre of land in Tarzana, Calif., and was previously owned by rising star Jonah Hill – had five bedrooms and five bathrooms, as well as an eat-in kitchen, office, high ceilings, lots of sun, and beautiful hardwood floors. In addition to her main house, there’s a spa in the backyard, complete with a pool, tennis court, and even a bocce ball court.
Selena eventually decided to sell the property in October 2014 after listing it for sale in May of that year for $3.495 million. The final price of $3.45 million ended up being a bit of a steal compared to its asking price, though Selena did manage to take home less money than what she paid originally paid.
Then in 2014, Selena shelled out $3.69 million to buy a pretty sizable house (and accompanying property) on 3.15 acres. Unfortunately, despite having some really nice things in life, Selena was unable to maintain such a lofty valuation in terms of her real estate holdings. At one point, she attempted to sell the house in question for $4.495 million, but ultimately wound up taking a small hit when the home sold.
The lucky recipient? Rapper French Montana, who listed the home in February 2020 for $6.6 million. For those interested, here’s
She spent an unrecorded sum to purchase a very large home in Fort Worth, Texas during 2015. In 2016 and 2017, she put that house on the market, listing it for $3.499 million. But in early 2018, she brought down the price by almost half to $2.999 million. Then, in October of 2020, she sold the place for $2.4 million.
Spending $2.249 million for a “modest” ($2.249M!) home in Studio City, California, was another big move for Trump in 2017. And in November of 2018, she sold it for $2.3 million after putting it up for sale a year earlier at $2.799 million.
In April 2020 Selena bought a house for $4.9 million. This house is really big it is 11,500 feet. It is located in Encino, California. Tom Petty had this house built a time ago in the late 1980s. When Tom Petty and his wife got divorced in 1996 he gave her the house.. Then Tom Pettys ex-wife lost the house in 2015 because she could not pay for it.
The person who owned the house after that did not have it for long less than a year. Selena bought the house from this person. This person made a good profit, $400,000, when they sold the house to Selena. Now Selena is trying to sell this house. She put it up for sale in May 2026. She wants $6.5 million for it.
In February 2025 Selena and her fiancé Benny Blanco bought another house. This house is, in Beverly Hills. It cost $35 million. We are not really sure if this is true. A lot of people are saying it is. A website called TMZ said they bought the house. We do not know all the details. We do not know how Selena and Benny Blanco are paying for the house or who actually owns it.
